It’s Thursday, not Tuesday😉

He lets me rest in green meadows.
Psalm 23:2a
I am immersed in the Psalms as I prepare to teach a women’s Bible study.
Although I am not teaching on this one, one of my favorites is Psalm 23. The timeless words, He lets me rest in green meadows, speak peace to my soul.
When I was growing up on my parent’s farm, there was a beautiful green pasture at the very end of our 23 acres. As a family, we often went there, walking by the numerous apple and peach trees to get there. On a clear day, we could see Lake Ontario. My dad wisely chose the name of his farm to be Lakeview Farm. After gazing at the lake for a bit, we would lie down in the green meadows and watch the clouds float by. The grass was silky and long and cushioned you as you lay there. Honestly, this is one of my favorite memories of the farm. That restful green meadow is my little vision of heaven on earth.
When my heart is stirred within me and my world is a bit bewildering, I retreat to that little spot for a moment. David must have had a little spot like mine. A place where he could head to when his world was confusing and complicated. And maybe his tiny place of solitude was the catalyst for these gloriously simple yet comforting words.
Often, on a hard day, I will stop for a minute, close my eyes, and put myself back in that beautiful setting. As I do, I think about my shepherd, who is right there with me. My heart begins beating more regularly, and my mind starts to rest.
I have been recently reminded why the Psalms are where we go when our world is challenging. The comforting influence of those ancient words is still at work.
If you wonder where to rest today, try resting in the green meadows and allow the good shepherd to speak to your soul.
It would be wonderful to read your thoughts in the comment section about your beloved Psalm and what makes it special for you.

Anne, you would not believe the last 2 weeks of my life! I needed those green pastures to remind me exactly where I need to retreat to in order to regain God’s promised peace in the midst of the turmoil. Thank you!
