Do you want to supersize that? I imagine, if you are like most of us in America, McDonald’s supersize fries, and an extra-large drink pops into your head. McDonald’s came out with this supersize ad campaign in April of 1992. But by 2004, they were phasing out this option as they decided to simplify their menu and offer some healthier choices.
Somehow supersizing our food wasn’t all that good for us, but supersizing our view of God is another matter altogether.
As I have looked back at my blog posts over the months since Covid-19 has occurred, I found that the vast majority of what I have written has to do with time in God’s word.
Why is that? It is because God’s word has made such an incredible impact on my life. It has been so powerful I want to shout from the rooftops, “Get into God’s word; it is life-changing. It can change you and the way you see God and the world. It is a game-changer!”
I have found, the more I am in the word, the more I grow in my walk with God. Time in God’s word is like miracle grow sprinkled daily on my life.
And the more I grow in my walk with God, the more I see his power and majesty. Each step I take with Jesus gives me an expanded understanding of how really BIG God is.
This morning I was reminded of an exchange between Aslan and Lucy written by CS Lewis in Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia from the Narnia Series. This conversation skillfully speaks to the great benefit of growth.
“Aslan,” said Lucy- “you’re bigger.”
“That is because you are older, little one,” answered Aslan.
“Not because you are?” replied Lucy
“I am not, but every year you grow; you will find me bigger.”
Every year you grow, you will find me bigger! Isn’t this the way it is as we grow in our walk with Christ? This paradox is hard to understand, but it is true.
As we grow, our view of ourselves becomes smaller, and our view of God becomes bigger. He doesn’t change, but we do, as our understanding of him grows. We begin to see him more like he is. Isn’t this what John the Baptist referred when he said, I must decrease and He must increase? Of course, God’s size hasn’t changed, but our understanding of his bigness has. His word sheds light on who he is. What a great principle!
As I grow in my walk with Jesus, God becomes bigger!
‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. Jeremiah 32:17

Your blog confirms what was shared this past Sunday. It was balancing, or going hand in hand w/- The Word of God and the God of the Word. How we will know Him more in both respects, but i’m finding it isn’ t a “task” nor is He a task master, but a pure joy – no matter the circumstances of our earthly lives. His love is over and above my needs, and I can depend on Him more, the more I love Him and His church. I soooo apprectiate you and your sharing!
